Our mother passed away early in the morning of Wednesday the 11th of December. She had been admitted to the Great Western Hospital with a suspected infection, but several complications arose that proved too difficult to overcome. A service will be held at the West Wiltshire Crematorium, BA14 6HL, at 13:00 on the 3rd of January. While she loved flowers (family only please, we'll sort those out), she would also have liked people to make donations to the Wessex MS Therapy Centre in Warminster, where she had received various therapies over the years.
As many of you know, she had been living with MS for almost 25 years; but that did not hinder her zest for life in any way. While she may have occasionally complained about the weather, Katherine's singing, or the quality (read quantity) of wine; not once did she complain about her condition. Rather than facing problems, everything was framed as a challenge, entirely in the positive sense of the word. Her humour prevailed through the toughest of days that would have caused most of us to fall victim to our own pity.
We feel unbelievably lucky to have had her as our guiding beacon, and it has been wonderful to hear so many stories about her past; both as we were growing up and before we met her. Simply put: everyone had a better time when Audrey was there. The Wessex MS Therapy Centre did so much for her, and we encourage you to donate generously in her memory, so that the Centre can continue to provide therapy, information and support for people with MS, their carers and families.
In memory of an indomitable spirit
When I saw Audrey and Lars in Beaune this autumn she said: - I´d like to go to India. A long and hard journey, the brothers argued. - It can be arranged, was her answer. Positive thinking!✌
Gardener donated instead of taking pay.
