Two years ago I was lucky enough to get a job in the Highlands, and moved from Midlothian up to Inverness. Since then I have gradually been getting fitter, thanks to being able to cycle to work, climbing more Munros, and discovering the Inverness Parkrun. Now it's time to see if I can still run a half marathon in a decent time! Thankfully there are lots of downhill sections in the Aviemore Half, on 14 October. We left behind - for a while - a special community. I'm fundraising for the Pathhead Youth Project (PYP) because I want to give something back. Though only 14 miles from Edinburgh and on the A68, Pathhead feels like quite an isolated place, very much dependent on its own people to make things happen there. Since 2005, Pathhead Youth Project has changed the village - local residents have said so, and so have the police in nearby Dalkeith, who certainly noticed the difference! Initiated by community activists and the local church, PYP has grown over the years to provide a drop in centre, a youth club, Youth Award schemes, joint all-age community activities, and a fantastic programme of outdoor and indoor activities each summer. But it all depends on local support and fundraising as well as some grant funding, to keep it going. All donations through my fundraising page or PYP's own LocalGiving page will be much appreciated! Thankyou Bill
As promised, an extra £10
Sorry I missed the race. I am sure you completed the course. Congratulations. Iain
Good work, Bill!
Thank you everyone who has supported me! The day of the run was fantastic - cool, dry and very still, with crystal clear views to the tops of the Cairngorms. My time was 99 minutes and 1 second!
Enjoy the run!
