Fund-raising for the Furzedown Project

Hello I am fund-raising for a vitally important local charity, the Furzedown Project which helps older people maintain their health,well-being, and independence. For those of you who do not know about the Furzedown Project it was started some years ago by local GP Dr. Levinson. He observed that many of his older patients were isolated, and had social needs as much as medical needs and would benefit from a local project which they could visit and where they could form friendships, and receive practical and emotional support and help. This important project has suffered both year-on-year cuts and reduced short-term funding from the local authority and health sectors making it difficult for it to offer the full range of services that are needed. The project is run by a small staff group and volunteers. Specifically I am fund-raising for the Project's over-subscribed yet short-term funded exercise classes. By attending these classes older people are helping themselves to keep fit, for example, helping prevent them from having falls at home and/or going to hospital. I am also one of the volunteer mini-bus drivers for the Project and I understand how important the project is to its members. About my FUNDRAISING- the Prudential 46 mile cycle sportive on July 30th is a major event, a long-distance cycle sportive (i.e. not a race) starting at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford and going out into Surrey and then back into London finishing along the Mall by Buckingham Palace. Although I am a regular cyclist I have never cycled 50 or so miles in a day before and so it should be fun! The Project will be most grateful for any contribution you care to donate on-line. This is the second time I have fund-raised for the project by cycling and in 2015 my target was £500 (and raised £555) and my target this year is again £500.
