100 years ago, it was common to see children running barefoot around the fields of East Ham, hungry and without proper clothing.
Sadly, the pandemic has highlighted that some of challenges we faced 100 years ago still exist today. In the eight years that the Bonny Downs food bank has been open we've never seen such demand for food, and every week we meet too many families in urgent need of new clothing for their children.
I have set up this page to help raise funds for the amazing work that Bonny Downs is doing to help children and families get back on their feet after the pandemic. In solidarity with our neighbours in need, I'll be joining the Barefoot Challenge on Saturday 12 June and walking a mile barefoot around Flanders Field in East Ham.
If you are in a position do so, please would you sponsor me? No donation is too small! Every pound will make a difference to a family right now. And if you're feeling generous, £15 could buy a new pair of shoes for a child living in poverty, or provide an emergency food parcel for a hungry small family.
Thank you so much for your support! You can read more about the Bonny Downs Barefoot and Hungry campaign here.
