TeamExpress Dragon Boat Challenge 2016

On 17th July 2016 Express launched our first ever dragon boat team at the annual Rotary Club challenge event in Canbury Gardens. We are immensely proud that several young people on the autism spectrum took part. They were joined by teenagers volunteering from the National Citizenship scheme and some brave dads. Having only met each other an hour beforehand, the team took to the water to race against other charity teams in three heats. With each heat Team Express speeded up, achieving a magnificent best time of 1.10 - an impressive result considering they were the youngest team in the competition! Express CIC was set up in 2012 by two parents of children on the autism spectrum. Based in Kingston upon Thames we help support young people with autism and their families and raise autism awareness in the community. We provide Arts Therapy Groups, Siblings Groups and Parent/ Carer support. In 2015 Express opened a busy office in Tolworth and we are working on our bigger project of 'creating a hub in the heart of the community, supporting young people with autism and their families, a place for everyone
