Liv & Ellie's leg of the Flamingo Flock Relay
In May, Ellie and I will be cycling a leg of the Flamingo Chicks', Flamingo Flock Relay from Land's End to John O'Groats. We are covering the 21-mile-long leg between Street and Midsomer Norton (virtually from North Devon) and will be dressed as flamingoes with all things pink, fluffy and feathery (just generally looking rather ridiculous)!
Flamingo Chicks is an inclusive community giving all children, including disabled children and those with illnesses such as cancer, the opportunity to enjoy dance and explore movement alongside friends. They also provide a vital peer support network for parents and carers, intergenerational volunteering, global outreach and advocacy.
Whilst Ellie is hoping to volunteer when up in Bristol (and receives a call after each class to hear about how amazing it was), I started teaching for Flamingo Chicks in January. I've been lucky enough to deliver classes to children's hospices all over the UK and meet truly wonderful children, young people and their families and carers. It has been such a privilege to deliver these classes and see whole families dancing together, to see the children's excitement when the music starts playing, and to give them the chance to dance.
It's been a tough year for all of us and Flamingo Chicks haven't been able to fundraise as much as usual. Throughout the month of May, they are hoping to raise vital funds to keep disabled and poorly children dancing. We are extremely grateful for any donation 😊
Wow! We can't believe that we are 80% of the way there ! Thank you so much, we really are so appreciative, each donation will go SO far in giving these wonderful young people the chance to dance
