A team of runners from Newark and Sherwood District Council are taking to the streets of Newark for the town’s annual half marathon in aid of Home-Start Newark.
John Robinson, Alan Bell, Maria Brambles, Adel Hamad and Richard Huthwaite will be running the 13.1 mile course to help raise vital funds that will contribute to the work of Home-Start Newark in giving vital support to families with young children.
The district council works in close partnership with Home-Start Newark, which is one of a number of charities that council chairman, Rob Crowe, is keen to support.
John said: “All parents to young children know it’s sometimes tough. Home-Start is a brilliant charity and its work benefits not only each immediate family but the wider community as well. It’s more than worth the effort and pain that will be required!”

About Newark Half Marathon
The 4th Eden Hall Middlebeck Newark Half Marathon is a flat to undulating, fast and scenic summer race on mainly closed roads. It has a fun run and entertainment for all the family in support of our Newark based charity partners. The setting is historic Newark with its castle and civil war museum. The race starts and finishes at the Sconce Park, site of civil war battles, passes the Ice Age Journey dig, where our ancestors settled over 13,000 years ago, skirts East Stoke, site of the bloodiest civil battle through Elston, birth place of the Darwin family and then back to the Sconce Park.
