To help raise money for Moorvision, an amazing charity that has helped our whole family adapt to having a visually impaired child, I have entered three very challenging running events:
Southampton half marathon (5th May)
Asics London 10k (21st July)
Bournemouth marathon (6th October)
Our son, who is now 7, was born visually impaired with ocular albinism, a condition where the eyes lack melanin pigment. He also has a nystagmus (involuntary back-and-forth movement of the eyes), sensitivity to light, difficulty seeing in school and doing some sports. He is unlikely to be able to drive when he is older.
I wouldn't describe myself as a runner, or even someone who enjoys running. But my wife is even less of a runner than me! However, she has agreed to run the London 10k too, which will be a huge challenge for her. Please support us both!
Well done from the Pest!
Good luck!
Event one, Southampton Half Marathon, has been completed. The second half was tough! London 10k is next up in July.
Good luck Dave and Jenny xx
