Rainbow Stripes is raising money for Imara.
Imara is a Nottingham based charity empowering children, young people and their family to recover from the impacts of sexual abuse.
Up to 1 in 4 children in the UK have been sexually abused. Over 90% children who experience sexual abuse were abused by someone they knew for example a relative, family friend, or neighbor.
A disclosure that child sexual abuse has taken place in the family is devastating and heart breaking. Imara was founded to address gap between police investigation and therapy services, where there was a clear need for early-intervention therapy and family support following a disclosure or discovery of child sexual abuse.
Imara believes that every child and young person who experiences sexual abuse needs a safe space and specialist support to help them process what has happened and reduce the physical and mental impact of trauma and empower them to move forward with the best chance of living a healthy and successful life. Imara also support the child or young person's safe family members by providing support with emotional trauma, housing and financial concern to restabilise the family following the abuse.
