Recovery Month Sponsored Walk

 Now in its 26th year, international Recovery Month raises awareness of alcohol and drug use disorders and promotes the benefits of prevention, treatment and recovery support services. Throughout September, thousands of people in the UK will be organising local events celebrating the fact that recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs is a lived reality in their lives.

Here at Recovery Cymru, we could not provide the amount of support that we do without the dedication of our wonderful supporters. In order to mark recovery month, Recovery Cymru have organised a sponsored walk which will take place on Saturday 28th September. Our community members will meet at Penarth train station, Station Approach at 11am and begin the moderate walk along the old Penarth to Barry railway line, branching off at Clifftop walk and heading towards the pier. We will then continue the walk across the barrage to our destination of Cardiff Bay............a total distance of approximately 6 miles. We will then return to the Cardiff centre for refreshments and celebrations. This is a community event and all are welcome whether you are being sponsored or not. Please feel free to share this post. Our aims for this are to:-

Promote the inclusive culture of our community and the value of peer support

Reduce stigma and discrimination

Inspire others to champion recovery in the community and show recovery is possible and real
