About
I'm running to raise money for South West London Law Centres (SWLLC), so that more people across south-west London can access justice and vital legal help when they need to most. Without the free or low-cost legal services the charity provides, many local people would be locked out of accessing justice, because they can’t afford a lawyer.
My time working at the Merton and Sutton Centre whilst training to become a lawyer showed me the importance of providing accessible legal services and the strain facing both organisations like SWLLC and the individuals that rely on them. I'm hoping to raise funds so that SWLLC can continue to provide the fundamental support and opportunities that have become increasingly unavailable as a result of repeated hostile and ignorant political climates.
SWLLC provides free community legal advice clinics, and free or low-cost casework and representation from specialist lawyers, on social justice issues including housing, employment, debt, social security and immigration. Last year they helped more than 8,000 people to stay in their homes, clear debts, resolve employment problems, protect themselves and their families, and access social security payments to prevent them from being pulled into poverty.
