Dear Friends. Many of you will remember Helen Freedman, avid supporter of Shropshire Disability Network, regular attender at our meetings & former employee of Energize Shropshire Telford & Wrekin. Helen was going to run for us in 2015 but deferred her number until 2016 when she had the great news that she was to become a Mum for the first time. Barley was born on Mothering Sunday last year! Everyone was really amazed when just 6 weeks after the birth, Helen who has never run a marathon before, started running again, yes training for her London Marathon 2016! Helen completed her challenged in under 4 hours & raised much needed funds & awareness of SDN a charity run totally by volunteers. Here is what Helen wrote in an edition of “YourVoice” “On the 24th April I'll be in London for the Marathon raising money for SDN. And why... because I can. I've been involved with SDN now for a couple of years and I believe they provide a valuable voice in our rural county. I've seen the great work the core team do & want to raise some valuable funds for SDN. Because I can! “ In support of Helen's efforts we appreciate the support given to us? So how will your donation be used? SDN is run entirely by volunteers many of whom have a disability or are carers. Donations are used to fund our website which holds a wealth of information and is "the place for disability information in Shropshire & beyond". We also produce a regular newsletter "YourVoice" which is available on-line & posted to those with no IT access. We lead on Safe Place Shropshire community initiative, have a printer, banners, leaflets, meetings, office consumables, insurance & other ongoing expenses. Your support enables us to continue our work. Thank you to all who have support both Helen & us with messages on Social Media & our website. There is still time to donate! We would like to get to be a #LocalHero & get on the #Leaderboard meaning more more money for us without extra cost to you. Thanks.
You are a superstar! xx
