So, here I am, the woman who could't run for a bus 2 years ago, signed up for the London Marathon! Why would a 34 year old at the top end of her BMI, with 3 children and a full time teaching job feel it was a good idea to run 26.2 miles around London on a Sunday in April?! Well, allow me to explain.......
When I started running I was low; in mood, in confidence & in life. I did't exercise, I usually lived off the treats on the staff room table and I felt rubbish as a result. My friend got me to start "Couch25k" & after a few weeks I completed my first 5K Parkrun (more fast walk but still!). I don't always enjoy running but I have witnessed the impact it has had on my mental health, it makes me feel invincible!
The Tomorrow Project is a cause close to my heart. 20 years ago my Uncle Phil took his own life devastating the lives of us, his family. The Tomorrow Project do incredible work preventing suicide and giving a lifeline to people in their darkest moments.
