Amsterdam-Cawsand for Jeremiah's Journey (Cycle)!

Hello, My name is Tom Calladine and in the month of September i plan to cycle from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) to my home town of Cawsand (Cornwall) to raise funds for Jeremiah's journey, a charity that works with adults, teenagers and children who are dealing with grief. All in all it is a 520 mile trip (providing i don't get lost!) This is a charity close to my heart as it helped me and my family when my mother died when i was a child, i feel as though dealing with death can be a difficult within western culture and is not something often talked about and is repressed. This charity provides the space and professional support through conversational and creative means to help families deal with loss. This is taken from the Jeremiah's Journey website... We aim to ensure that children, young people and their parents/carers in Plymouth and the immediate surrounding area have support at a sad and difficult time. This may be because someone special has died or a parent has a terminal illness (the Stepping Stones Project). We believe that no child or family should feel alone in their grief. Our work is centred around children, young people and their families who are grieving and we always aim to do our best to help them through a difficult and uncertain time. Families need support at different times and may be facing lots of challenges. We are respectful of each child and their family’s individual experiences and circumstances. We will be creative in our work and strive for excellence in all areas of the charity. We will: Be responsive to our community through developing and delivering appropriate services for children, young people and their families who are grieving. be committed to sharing knowledge and best practice so that grieving children and young people will be supported in all areas of their lives. be an effective and efficient organisation to ensure the quality and safety for all who are in contact with us.
