Change can be exciting but negotiating life's changes can be daunting for even the most confident of young people. For young people struggling with a difficult home life, low self-esteem and poor confidence, the move to secondary school is huge challenge. Our Transitions Programme supports 10-14-year-olds to increase their resilience to cope with challenges at school and home, raising attendance and aspirations. Work includes small groups, one-to-one, residentials and educational support.
Why they need our serviceVulnerable children are at risk of not transferring successfuly to secondary school. And if they don't succeed at secondary school, life will be very tough. Transitions Programme staff work with small groups in year 6 and offer ongoing support at secondary school, to enable these young people to take advantage of all that education has to offer them.
