Trevors marathon challenge

I have decided to run the Southampton marathon to raise money for an utterly brilliant cause. My wonderful, inspirational daughter Emma works for Berkshire Woman's Aid. This is an organisation that provides confidential support, information, outreach services and refuge accommodation for women and their children who are affected by domestic abuse and violence. They also provide confidential support, information and outreach services to men who have experienced domestic abuse and violence. Their vision is that all women, children and men should be able to live free from the fear and experience of domestic abuse and violence in their homes and relationships. In 2016/17 BWA received 1043 referrals for outreach support, 407 referrals for support for children impacted by domestic abuse, over 120 referrals to refuge, including 84 children and 6424 calls to their helpline. After years of cuts in this area, the work of Berkshire Women's Aid is now even more important. I first got into running after watching Emma run the Great South Run in Pompey quite a few years ago. After seeing her complete the ten-mile run, she inspired me to commit to training to run the GSR the following year. I had no fitness and couldn't even run down my street! I ran it and I have since joined the brilliant (and really friendly!) Fareham Crusaders running club and have run over ten marathons and ultra marathons and see running as an excellent way to keep fit and help enjoy life. So thanks, Emma, it was all down to you!
