WAYC Runners 2017

Hi everyone, We are the WAYC Runners! We take part in races throughout the Midlands to raise money for Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs, a youth work charity that has supported youth projects and young people for over 60 years. Last year the money we raised went on WAYC's Sharp Minds. The Sharp Minds Project is an innovative service which creates safe and inclusive places for young people diagnosed with a mental health illness to have fun, relax and meet with other young people who are also struggling with similar conditions e.g. depression and anxiety. Young people are referred to the group via GPs, schools, and social services. The group runs weekly and because of our efforts now operates in Stratford, Warwick and Leamington. This year the money raised will go towards our work supporting local youth clubs and groups. Since April 2015 our youth club support team has raised £170,000 for local groups. This is especially important following Warwickshire County Councils cuts to youth spending these past years which has resulted in youth centres closing and support to youth clubs ceasing. In 2017 we will be doing - the Draycote Water 10km - the Warwick Half Marathon - the Two Castles 10km - the Blenheim Palace Half Marathon.
