Wharfedale Ton - 100 mile charity Cycling event
On Friday 14th June I'll be taking part in the Wharfedale Ton, cycling 100 miles and raising money for local charity Growing Works. I love my cycling but it's a long old way, even for me, so please show your support for me and Growing Works by donating to my fundraiser.
Growing Works provide therapeutic outdoor activities in Huddersfield catering for families of children with additional needs, young people looking to build confidence, and adults coping with mental health issues. We all know that physical activity and fresh air do us the world of good but when experiencing mental ill health or coping with additional needs it can be really hard to get out there. Many issues are ongoing for families and individuals but finding support and coping mechanisms can make the world of difference.
We've experienced the effect of childhood anxiety preventing one of our children from being able to cope with new activities or changes to routines. We knew that fresh air and exercise helped but it was difficult to find activities that would build her confidence. I personally find outdoor activity a great way to cope with the stress that life throws at us all these days (hence all the cycling) and I'm keen to support anything that promotes this as an alternative to medication.
Well done Chris!

About The Wharfedale Ton
The Wharfedale Ton In 2016, Gordons partner and head of employment, Phil Paget, had the idea of creating a 100-mile charity cycling event involving professionals riding through beautiful Yorkshire countryside. From that initial thought, the hugely successful Wharfedale Ton was born. Organised by Gordons with support from Lloyds Bank and audit, tax and consulting firm RSM, the first cycle ride across Wharfedale to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospice in Bradford took place in June that year.
