Eden Rose manages 2.4 acres of urban woodland behind Sainsbury's in Sudbury, known as Armes Wood. It once belonged to the Armes carpet factory but since their move in 2004 it has been neglected. It was once a working chalk pit supplying to industry. Since the pit was worked out it has been colonised in the main by self seeding sycamore and acacia.

Eden Rose took responsibility for the wood in September 2018 and a lot of hard work later clearing sycamores and acacia our volunteers planted Hazel, oak; elm; rowan; Wild cherry; silver birch; hawthorn and hornbeam, about 700 in total.

The year 2020 was going very well until the start of the Coronavirus emergency. Since then it has been difficult to safely use our wonderful volunteers plus a calamitous drying up of money raising initiatives from, for example, quiz nights, picnics, walks, talks to groups etc. Our work with the vulnerable also abruptly stopped for safety reasons as did payments to continue this work. It is pleasing to say that we are getting back on our feet but in a slow, limited and covid safe way but our only income is limited sales of logs.

Usually I would be pleading for trees only (they are about £2.50 to £5 each) but we need general funding to pay fixed costs like insurance and utility bills. Whatever your contribution I assure you every penny to nature. Eden Rose has no administrations costs and our volunteers claim nothing. I am hoping to raise. £1000 for trees and £2000 to keep this wonderful Eden Rose Coppice Trust charity from disappearing.
