Pregnancy and early parenthood can be a challenging time. Teenage parents may feel less supported and prepared than older parents to provide for the needs of a baby. Our Young Parents Programme is a lead provider of services for teenage parents in Cambridgeshire. Through home-visiting ante- and post-natal groups, educational and parenting support, we work with parents and their children to build support networks and to improve their prospects in health and education.
Why they need our serviceCambridgeshire has a substantial number of teenage parents. Romsey Mill remains one of the lead responses to this, with a history of successfully providing targeted activities and one-to-one support. Our experience of working with the Romsey Mill Young Parents Programme has been a positive one. The workers are often able to help us engage young parents, which is crucial to the safeguarding of vulnerable children within our community. (Social Worker, Long Term Team)
