Magic Little Grants 2022
Magic Little Grants 2022 has now launched, with applications taking just 10 minutes to fill out and submit!
After successfully distributing 2,000 grants to Localgiving members last year, making it our biggest ever Magic Little Grants programme, we’re incredibly excited to announce that 2022 is going to be even bigger and better than ever before! We will be awarding £500 grants to 2,650 charitable organisations on Localgiving. We are so pleased to have expanded the number of grantees this year as we know how popular these grants have proven for our charities. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the support and contributions from the Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, who make this programme possible.
The six funding trusts from the People’s Postcode Lottery who we will be collaborating with to administer our biggest ever Magic Little Grants programme in 2022 are:
This year we will be funding more organisations than we ever have before and we will still be spreading this funding out far and wide across the country. Last year we expanded our eligibility criteria which will remain this year. In previous years, funding had to go towards projects that were delivering sports or physical activities. But this year funding can go towards any of the following projects:
-
Improving mental wellbeing
-
Enabling community participation in the arts
-
Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty
-
Supporting marginalised groups and promoting equality
-
Improving biodiversity and green spaces
-
Enabling participation in physical activity
-
Responding to the climate emergency and promoting sustainability
-
Increasing community access to outdoor space
If your organisation is carrying out a project within these themes, make sure to get your application in once the programme launches on 16th March 2022. The application process is short and simple, taking ten minutes to complete. Each organisation may only apply once in 2022.
Organisations must either be in their first year of operation or have an annual income under £250,000. Funding can be used to launch new projects, support existing ones, or cover core costs associated with ongoing work.
Please note that schools are eligible to apply if they are a registered charity. Groups in Northern Ireland are not eligible to apply for this funding.
If you have been awarded a Magic Little Grant in previous years, you will need to have completed and returned your monitoring forms for those years before you can receive another grant.
If You're Not Registered With Localgiving
If you’re new to Localgiving (i.e. you are registering with us to apply for the grant) and your Magic Little Grant application is successful, alongside the £500 grant you will also be awarded a year of free membership (funded by the the Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery). This means that you will not have to pay the £150 + VAT membership fee, but you will still be required to set up a direct debit upon registration. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application via email, regardless of whether they are successful or not, within two months of their submission.
Make sure to enter the promocode MLG2022 to claim your free annual membership as part of the grant. You need to complete the Localgiving validation process before you are able to submit your application.
To get started, you will need to register your organisation with us and provide us with a couple of documents just for us to validate your organisation, such as a bank statement, accounts, governing document and details of two bank signatories. Once you have completed your registration process, you will be able to submit your application for a Magic Little Grant.
If You're Already Registered with Localgiving
If you are already a Localgiving member, then you can complete the simple online application form by logging into your Localgiving account. A link to the application form can be found under the ‘My Grants’ section of your account.
Video Competition
After a very popular trial last year, we will also be running two video competitions throughout the year, awarding a £100 donation to the winning organisations. These competitions will be taking place in August and December.
The winners will be the organisations that create the best “thank you” video, thanking the Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for their support as without it, none of this funding would be possible. We encourage you to get creative in these videos and make them as professional and high quality as possible, ensuring you thank the Players and showcase the benefits of the funding you have received. Details on how to enter will be emailed to grantees.
