Llandudno | Counselling, Advice & Mentoring
Citizens Advice Conwy aims to deliver equitable face to face & telephone services across the Conwy County Borough. Working with partners, we provide telephone advice, home visit services, appointments & face to face open door services in venues our service users consider as community hubs across the County, be it libraries, community libraries, pubs, community halls. We strive to further develop volunteer led quality services within local community hubs to meet community service user led need.
Why the community needs usThe Citizens Advice service began 4 September 1939 as an emergency service the day after World War 2 was declared. Citizens Advice Conwy first opened its doors in Colwyn Bay 21 November 1939 as an advice & information service to clients in offices lent by the Colwyn Bay Cooperative Society in Sea View Road, Colwyn Bay. The aim in 1939 was to be 'at service of any citizen in difficulty' & despite facing new challenging circumstance, Citizens Advice stays true to that founding principle today.
Our impact on the communityCitizens Advice Conwy dealt with 11,698 new enquiries during 2017/2018, supporting service users to claim confirmed financial gains of £1,950,038 which includes £1,072,25 of new or increased benefit/tax credits. We also supported service users to manage £1,743,942 of debt which included benefit overpayments to the value of £79,772, mortgage arrears of £327,698 & council tax arrears of £46,560.
