LEGS Neuro Community - reviving lives and creating community through accessible Neuro Rehab.
LEGS is an award-winning registered charity operating in Greater London (and online nationally).
We provide ongoing, affordable and accessible rehabilitation via our subsidised specialist exercise and support programme for people with neurological conditions. We want to scale our current offering and are seeking funders to support this impactful next chapter.
Once discharged from the hospital, people with neurological disorders do not have access to essential, ongoing rehabilitation.
Since 2018 we have worked with hundreds of people and their families to improve their rehabilitation, health and wellbeing and reduce isolation through physical activity.
The need for our services and community is great and ever increasing with an ageing population and the cost of living crisis.
We are seeking funding to continue our life-changing impact and expand our reach.
We have designed an award-winning programme which delivers the following activities:
- Group rehab and exercise classes: available in-person or online with a specialist physiotherapist, adapted to the individual to sustain regular physical activity.
- Education: The weekly Neuro Café offers educational sessions with professionals on a wide range of topics from how to manage to fatigue to accessible travel techniques.
- Community support: Peer support and camaraderie for service users, carers, family and/or friends. We create a community and a network of people who can understand the challenges and help each other.By offering
group physiotherapy, we are able to offer highly specialist rehab
affordably and sustainably. It’s a model which works, is scaleable and we want to make available everywhere in the UK. Interest has been expressed in having our services commissioned.
We
create community, reduce loneliness, revive people’s sense of purpose and enhance
wellbeing and connection in our participants’ lives.
