About the appeal

The Belong Community Project provides essential support to disadvantaged children, young people and their families in the Dorking area.

In this era of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are even more aware of the increased need to provide children and young people with vital interventions that will support positive mental health and physical wellbeing. We are appealing for donations to enable Belong to continue to provide and expand our work as follows:

Streetwork Outreach - targeted outreach youth work in areas in the local community reaching vulnerable young people
One to One Mentoring - individual support to children struggling with a range of issues affecting their everyday lives
Schools Transition Programme - supporting children with the daunting challenge of moving from primary to secondary school
Community Gym - helping to tackle the issues of childhood obesity and lack of exercise, whilst having fun and gaining confidence
Malthouse Children & Youth Centre Sessions for All - providing a safe environment for children and young people to meet, enjoy activities and socialise together, whilst offering guidance and support where needed.

Without local support, Belong cannot continue to provide this important support for our local children and young people, as our current fund are running out...

Here's what Belong has been doing since we started just over a year ago - with your help we can carry on, and do even more to support the local children and young people.

- Over 228 different young people engaged with
- Over 70+ young people attending Malthouse sessions
- 25 members signed up to a free youth gym
- Over 300 hours of one to one support
- 50+ children supported through school transitions
- Over 100 young people engaged in school holiday provision

Belong is a community led project working in the Dorking and surrounding areas, and we couldn't do this without local support.

We were almost at the point of school refusal, but the intervention provided by Belong has given our son a vital outlet to discuss his worries and help develop strategies for him to cope in day-to-day school life” (Parent)
