Valleys Kids is a charity that works in disadvantaged communities in the Rhondda valley, which are amongst the most economically and socially deprived in Wales.

For over forty years we have enabled individuals and families to achieve their full potential and broaden their horizons. We deliver our work through four community projects in Penygraig, Dinas, Penyrenglyn and Rhydyfelin together with Sparc, a project that allows disadvantaged children and young people to explore their creativity. In addition, we operate the Factory, in Porth, a social enterprise which is home to a diverse array of creative organisations, artists and community regeneration initiatives, and Little Bryn Gwyn, on the Gower, a stunning rural retreat which provides children from the communities in which we work with opportunities to connect with nature.

Through our work, we are seeing that some of the poorest people in our society will not be returning to the lives they had before the Covid-19 pandemic. They have lost loved ones, become unemployed or are living in working poverty and are struggling more than ever with the rising cost of living. That’s why we are here, why we have always been here, to help people in the communities where we work manage the pressures they face and stay positive and healthy. From food parcels to after school clubs, our Community and Family Hubs provide safe happy spaces for people to access support and advice and for children to escape the pressures of the world outside and have fun.

Mae Plant y Cymoedd yn elusen sy’n gweithio mewn cymunedau difreintiedig yng nghwm Rhondda, sy’n wynebu rhai o’r heriau economaidd a chymdeithasol mwyaf yng Nghymru.

Ers dros ddeugain mlynedd rydym wedi galluogi unigolion a theuluoedd i gyflawni eu potensial ac ehangu eu gorwelion. Rydym yn gweithio ar draws pedwar prosiect cymunedol ym Mhenygraig, Dinas, Penyrenglyn a Rhydyfelin ynghyd â Sparc, prosiect sy’n galluogi plant a phobl ifanc o bob cefndir i archwilio eu creadigrwydd. Yn ogystal, rydym yn rhedeg y Ffatri yn y Porth, menter gymdeithasol sy'n gartref i amrywiaeth eang o sefydliadau creadigol, artistiaid a mentrau adfywio cymunedol. Rydym hefyd yn ffodus iawn i gael canolfan breswyl werdd ar Benrhyn Gŵyr, o’r enw Bryn Gwyn Bach; eco-ganolfan wledig sy’n rhoi cyfleoedd i blant o’r cymunedau yr ydym yn gweithio ynddynt gysylltu â byd natur.

Drwy ein gwaith, rydym yn gweld na fydd rhai o’r bobl dlotaf yn ein cymdeithas yn dychwelyd i’r bywydau a oedd ganddynt cyn pandemig Covid-19. Maent wedi colli anwyliaid, wedi dod yn ddi-waith neu'n byw mewn tlodi gwaith ac yn cael trafferth gyda chostau byw cynyddol yn fwy nag erioed. Dyna pam rydyn ni yma, pam rydyn ni wedi bod yma erioed; i helpu pobl yn y cymunedau lle’r ydym yn gweithio i reoli’r heriau y maent yn eu hwynebu ac aros yn bositif ac yn iach. O barseli bwyd i glybiau ar ôl ysgol, mae ein Hybiau Cymunedol a Theulu yn fannau diogel a hapus i bobl gael cymorth a chyngor ac i blant ddianc rhag pwysau’r byd y tu allan a chael hwyl.
