'Pathhead Youth Project has changed this village for the better!' - local resident
We're proud of Pathhead, but there wasn't much here for young people. So we provide a drop-in centre and a youth club; we support young people's development through Youth Achievement Awards or Dynamic Youth Awards; we organise and run a summer programme of adventure activities; and we run village events like the Talent Show, the Burns Supper and the Christmas carol singing, to bring all sections of our community together. We depend on regular support to keep all this going.
Why the community needs usYoung people tell us how much they appreciate being able to do all this in Pathhead, especially since there are no evening buses back from Dalkeith or Edinburgh . Parents and guardians say the same, as do the residents in the village who have noticed a change in the whole atmosphere of the village. Nothing brings our community together like the crowds in the village hall for the Talent Show, or when the young folk serve and entertain older residents at the Burns Supper. Pathhead needs PYP!
Our impact on the communityIn a typical week 30 or 40 young people will attend the drop-in, Youth Club, Achievement Award session or take part in our other activities. We're proud and pleased when we see young people grow in confidence, ability and community spirit, and when their experience or Awards help them to progress into employment and adult life.
