The children at Christ Church were invited to choose a charity of the month, and were given the month of June for raising funds for their nominated charity. The children were keen to support a charity that works with young people, and one that was local to them. They discussed it together and decided to choose Project 28.
Project 28 is a young people’s drug and alcohol service in Bath & North East Somerset. They provide advice, guidance and one-to-one sessions for young people who are having problems with drugs and/or alcohol. The service is free and confidential, they aim to provide a flexible and non-judgemental space for young people to be open about the problems they are facing. The charity help young people by offering support and assessment around their drug/ alcohol use, employment and training needs and other ‘soft’ skills including:
Diversionary activities
Individual sessions
Sexual health advice
Groups
Open Access
Healthy Eating
The charity also supports parents carer of a young people using drugs or alcohol problematically.
The Xch children had lots of ideas for extra fundraising activities. Unfortunately some of these can't happen but they are still keen to do what they can.
They are planning a Zoom concert and a quiz sheet, for which they will invite donations.
