A large, local youth group operating across Witham and surrounding areas since September 1972. They work with young people particularly engaging with those who are disadvantaged by way of family, unemployment or disability. 2nd Witham Boys' Brigade are divided into four age groups - 5-7 years, 8-11 years, 11-14 years and 15-18+ years.
Why the community needs usBeing a very non - traditional group, our programme extends from when a person is 5 years of age, right through to adult life and includes long term life skills training and self - confidence building - whether it be sports, craft or adventurous activities, conservation, power boating, camping, rock climbing, music, music sound - tracking, film making or wood turning! We work alongside other groups in Witham and the immediate area and share resources with other groups.
Our impact on the communityWithin the group an ongoing mentoring programme is underway, to teach and support those in greatest need, and this application is particularly aimed at strengthening this work, together with our place in the community and the impact we make in the Witham area. Of late, we have been supporting certain young people in their exclusion from school and school work, plus drug abuse and high risk offending possibility.
