DOCA bring the community of Devizes, surrounding towns and rural areas together to have shared experiences through arts and culture - events, activities, festivals and workshops. Community is at the heart of all we do, and our equalities ethos means events and workshops are free for all to attend and participate in. We believe that access to creativity and a sense of community are vital in life. Our programme includes Street Festival, Carnival, Lantern Parade, the one and only Confetti Battle, Picnic in the Park as well as one off projects. Our funding primarily comes from Arts Council, Lottery and our own fundraising initiatives, bolstered by small grants, donations and in-kind support. DOCA's work would not be possible without a large loyal and hardworking team of volunteers who come from all walks of life and life experiences (we call them Festival Makers). DOCA has a committed team of 3 part time employees. The organisation has been in existence for over 15 years and registered as a charity since 2014
Why the community needs us
We believe ALL communities deserve access to arts and culture and that engagement in these fields builds community, positivity, a sense of place and pride. In an area where there is a recognised dearth of services DOCA fills this gap with an inspiring, aspirational and socially aware range of creative activities which are greatly anticipated and warmly received. Our impact on the community
We work with local primary & secondary schools, support and social community groups & hundreds of families & individuals to create the most wonderful community events. Over 1000 people take part in Carnival and Lantern Parade. We work with local artists and crafters through our Makery brand markets at events. We work with local businesses, including tourism and hospitality and transport providers to build the Devizes offer.
