Favell House Day Services provides healthcare, activities and entertainment for adults with a range of disabilities. Two important aspects of what we offer are the provision of peer support for our service users and respite for carers to allow them time to attend to their own needs. Each day our service users receive a meal, refreshments throughout the day and support from a Nurse, Nursing Assistant and an Activities Co-ordinator. This can often be the only social interaction we have each week.

Our service prevents us from becoming socially isolated and provides a friendly relaxed atmosphere to get help with physical health needs as well as form lifelong friendships. We also provide much needed short periods of respite during the day for carers whilst we are on the day unit so that they have time to themselves. "Before I came here I was housebound for 4 years. My dad is my carer and when he was at work I was unable to leave the house. Before I became unwell I was working in the caring profession and I was very surprised how I lost colleagues who were friends very quickly. When I first came to FHDS 10 years ago, I had lost all my confidence and it has now changed my life completely. I look forward to my weekly visit where I have developed some good friendships - I rely on this!"
