
Our object as stated in our constitution is: 'to provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interest of the social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their age with the object of improving their conditions of life.' The charity's main income is that provided by members' annual subscription, and other than coach trips is spent on activities, and paying speakers, hiring rooms,and instructors.
Why the community needs usThe Plymouth Forum is an organisation for retired people to share interests and who meet in friendship currently to pursue cultural interests, a weekly coffee morning, Illustrated Talks, Art, Music for Enjoyment, Board Games, Tai Chi, Music for enjoyment,Board games, hobbies, Books,Plays and Poetry with regular leisure walks (for all abilities) and summer coach outings. Activities are organised during the day by volunteers within the membership.
Our impact on the communitySince its inception in 1968, the Plymouth Forum has achieved tangible results. It provides activities for its retired members and also provides a focus. The Forum is a centre of:- F - Friendship, O-Objectiveness, R- Relaxation and U - Unity within its M - Membership. For retired people it helps by keeping minds active and providing creative activities for general enjoyment.
