Accessible Arts & Media (AAM) runs a creative range of music and arts projects where the achievements and aspirations of everyone are celebrated regardless of their circumstances. We inspire thousands of disabled people and young people to communicate through creativity, to have their voices heard and make a real difference in their local community. Our projects push boundaries and challenge stereotypes by raising expectations of what disabled people and young people are capable of achieving.
Why the community needs usAccessible Arts & Media (AAM) has an impressive 30-year track record of engaging with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. Our work directly benefits up 250 people each year - our project participants, a further 150 take part in our outreach workshops and over 10,000 indirectly through our website and Ableweb site (www.ablewebyork.org). Our flagship project, Hands & Voices - a 60-strong singing and signing choir enables those with speech and language difficulties to communicate more easily.
Our impact on the communityBy welcoming, listening to and actively involving users at all levels, we are able to structure our work to suit their particular needs and aspirations of all those we work with, which has also shown us that people benefit socially, emotionally, creatively and professionally from being involved in AAM's vibrant range of projects.
