The aim is to support vulnerable Muslim families resident in Slough and surrounding areas who are in need, hardship or distress. We work to ADVANCE THE EDUCATION of Muslim women and their families. To provide facilities for recreational and other leisure time occupation in the interests of SOCIAL WELFARE with the object of improving the conditions of life. To increase the AWARENESS of local authorities, other organisations and the public in respect of the cultural and religious needs of Muslims.
Why the community needs usAn-Nisa has a growing portfolio of work and many ideas; we aim to explore new and exciting ways of supporting and empowering Muslim women and the community. There's lots of work to be done and we are confident that working with the community, we are in the right place and at the right time to take that challenge.
Our impact on the communityWe have initiated FEMALE only LIFEGUARD Training in Slough which proved popular with our ladies. In March 2005 An-Nisa won the SLOUGH MAYOR'S AWARD for Sporting Achievement. Those sessions still run every week and we feel proud of the achievement that has benefited hundreds of ladies over the last few years. Over the 13-year history of An-Nisa it has now been recognised in the NATIONAL GOOD PRACTICE GUIDE put together by the government to empower Muslim women to play a more active role.
