About the appeal

This is the page to buy tickets for the Charity Dinner on 11th May 2024 at the Hannafore Point Hotel. The dinner is a charity fundraiser to raise funds to complete the purchase of the ambulance pictured above.

The Charity Dinner will comprise:

Glass of fizz on arrival
Buffet meal
Charity auction of various lots including paintings from Ukrainian artists
Music to follow by The Huckleberry Finns and DJ Mike Allsopp
A chance to meet visiting Ukrainians including veterans from the Azov steelworks in Mariupol who spent months in Russian captivity.

Tickets are £50 each, please donate this amount multiplied by the number of tickets you require. We will confirm your ticket purchase by email.

Please don't gift aid your donation as it is not allowed because you will get benefit from this donation. Please allow Local Giving to share your contact details with the Lions Club of Looe else we won't be able to confirm your tickets.

The reason for this appeal and the charity dinner follows below.

Residents of Looe and surrounding villages have been helping to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, channelling the collection and transportation of humanitarian and medical aid to various recipient organisations in Ukraine.

We now need urgently to focus this activity and the fantastic goodwill of the people of Looe into a project to fund and deliver an Ambulance full of medical aid to Ukraine - your help now will undoubtedly save lives in the coming weeks.

Our contacts in Ukraine tell us that the current Russian military push is creating large numbers of casualties, many of whom need hospital care to survive their injuries. They do not have anything like enough ambulances to cope and as such people are dying through lack of suitable transport from the conflict zone to hospitals in relative safety.

Looe helping Ukraine, a group of local residents and organisations including Lions Club of Looe, has the option to buy an ex-NHS ambulance and has already collected enough medical aid to fill it.
