About the appeal
Local man Adrian Tyrrell has been training hard over the past couple of months as he has decided to test the limits of his endurance and take on the epic challenge of swimming 21 miles in 20 hours across the English Channel. He intends to take this challenge on with the aim of raising money for POINT’s Adventure Club. POINT adventure provides young people with access to free activities designed to challenge them physically, mentally and socially. Last year Adrian rowed 5,000 kms across the Atlantic raising £15,000 for RNLI. We believe he has the determination and experience to succeed and hopefully raise 5-10K.

How the funding will be spent
We are lucky to live in an area with plenty of adventure activities available, however these come at a cost. With the current cost of living crisis families in the area are finding it harder to find time or money to spend on leisure activities.
By raising this money will be able to offer these activities for free allowing more and more young people the chance to enjoy what Pembrokeshire has to offer from coasteering at Abereiddy and weekend adventure residentials to hosting intergenerational bingo events in their community, POINT’s adventure club aims to challenge young people to try new things, to take them out of their comfort zone whilst developing a sense of pride, self confidence and connection to their local community
Adrian’s ambitious venture is brave and requires dedication, a sense of adventure and commitment. This is a great message to be giving to the young people.
