About the appeal

Now, more than ever, the POINT Youth Centre need your support.
We are turning to the local community and beyond to help us raise vital funds for POINT, which has provided such essential and sometimes lifesaving support to young people for more than 2 decades.
POINT has been in operation for over 22 years after community consultation showed that young people of Fishguard & Goodwick didn’t have anywhere to spend their time. We have expanded (from a small building with outside toilets), to having two superb buildings which offer so much to the young people of Fishguard & Goodwick and throughout North Pembrokeshire. In the 2 decades we have been operational we have provided thousands of young people with;

Emotional and mental health support
General health support
Hot healthy meals
A free counselling service
Intergenerational mentoring
Fun informal activities
A safe space to spend their leisure time
Fun and engaging trips
Physical activities.We have given out over 14,000 25p meals and given young people a place to spend their leisure time in a space that’s theirs, is safe and for some is the only secure base they have.

Over the past three years our free counselling provision has supported over 120 young people.

We've also trained over 150 members of the community in Youth Mental Health First Aid; building a community who are more equipped and ready to support young people in mental health crises.

In June 2023 we received the devastating news that some of our funding would not be renewed. This means that from October 2023 we will have to massively scale back the services that we offer young people, give up one of our properties, shut down some of our services like counselling, employability and life skill support, Youth Mental Health First Aid for the community and the amount of time that we can open our drop in provision may be reduced.

In order for us to keep operating in our current capacity for another year, we would need to find funds of at least £150,000.
