Basis Yorkshire empowers women and young people with informative to stay safe and make informed choices. We work with sexworkers (street and indoor) in Leed through outreach and drop-in, offering access to sexual and other health services, housing support and other advice including support into how to access education, volunteering or leave sex work. We also offer 1 - 1 sessions with young women/girls who are sexually exploited or at significant risk thereof, until their risk has reduced to low.

Our work benefits some of the most vulnerable and marginalised women in our city. Our adult team works with sex working women ensuring they have access to sexual health and are supported in keeping safe. Women wanting to move on from sex work are supported in addressing some complex issues and are often able to reengage with education and employment. Our young people's team works 1 to 1 with young people to recognise their exploitation and to support them to make informed choices.

As a result of our work many women are healthier and safer than they would otherwise be. They are better able to make positive decisions about their lives which help them to reengage with society. Young people are more informed about the risks around relationships, grooming and sexual exploitation. Those young people who have been victims of abuse through child sexual exploitation have access to appropriate specialist support.
