We are a group of local Volunteers who raise money to care for and maintain the Sports Field & Recreation Ground left in Trust to the twin Villages of Gentleshaw & Cannock Wood by the Marquess of Anglesey. We are responsible for the hedges, fencings, cricket,baseball & football pitches, grass cutting 7-8 times each year. Insurance, play & exercise equipment plus odd incidentals.

The Field is an open space for use by all ages genders and abilities able bodied or not so able. It may be a quiet place to walk with an excellent view over the area to the front, backed by forest. Or for the more energetic using the equipment, joining one of the Team games or just 'letting off steam' with their peers for the younger users. Dogs on a lead only please.

The grass is kept cut & in good condition It is a safe area to play having a fence or a hedge to protect from the road. The pitches are all in good condition and up to current health and safely standards. Insurance is current and is renewed each December. Childrens play equipment is regularly inspected and adult(12+) exercise equipment was installed during 2011 Plans are in hand to purchase a cradle swing for the use of the very young children of the area as soon as funds become available
