Billinge and Orrell Transition Group is bringing together skills and creativity within the community to build a sustainable, low-energy future. From sustainable food & farming, local economy, green energy, transport, education, leisure and health & well-being we have exciting volunteer-led projects open to everyone within the community. One of our key projects is Greenslate Community Farm and we are currently fundraising to support its development.

Greenslate Community Farm has recently purchased two young Dales ponies to train as working horses for the farm! Ultimately we intend to use them to cultivate the fields, work the woodland and maybe deliver the veg. Dales ponies are classified as endangered on the Rare Breed Survival Trust's watchlist and at the farm we try to select those breeds of farm animals that are most in need of help. Please support us to provide a caring environment for the ponies to thrive!

Greenslate Community Farm plan to run equine skill-sharing workshops throughout the coming months so keep watching out our facebook page, website and emails for further details. If, however, you just like looking at the animals from a distance don't forget that Greenslate Community Farm is open from Monday to Saturday and you are always welcome to drop in and spend some time at the farm and visit the dales ponies.
