Relief of poverty. We provide immediate practical help, whilst the referring organisation helps solve the underlying causes of distress.
Why the community needs usHomeless people are referred to us along with parents on basic benefits, or people moving from institutional care into their first unfurnished accommodation. Other referrals come from social services, Cambridge Housing Society & most of the local charities who help people suffering from domestic, alcohol or drug abuse, or have disabilities or mental health issues. Grants are for food, heating, household goods, clothes & shoes, utility arrears, play scheme fees, debt relief orders and so on.
Our impact on the communityWith the continuing fragile and unpredictable economic situation the financial pressures on many in our community are rising. CCAS grants offer some relief towards helping people get through a very difficult and stressful time. The grants give comfort, provide basic essential needs and help to maintain an individual's dignity.
