21 Plus supports, nurtures and empowers children and young people with Down’s syndrome and their families.
Our core purposes are:
To enable people with Down’s syndrome to reach their full potential and live fulfilled and active lives, through the provision of training, support, education and practical advice.
To promote the education of the public, parents and carers of people with Down’s syndrome, and professionals involved in their care and education, in the specific needs and abilities of people with Down’s syndrome.
We offer:
Weekly early intervention groups for pre-schoolers.
Weekly primary aged communication groups.
Fortnightly youth group for teens and young adults.
School support service providing training and support to schools and nurseries.
Annual programme of training and workshops for parents/carers and professionals.
Annual speech and sport camp for primary aged children.
Annual Residential Camp for teenagers and young adults
Family events throughout the year.
Geographically we provide a full support network for the families within the Down’s syndrome community in Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Newport, southern Powys and surrounding areas. We also offer our services to other areas in Wales such as Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Caerphilly, RCT and more on an associate membership basis. However we will always try to help families who reach out to us no matter where they live in Wales.
