The community association aims to provide a multipurpose resource, training and community facility to help improve the lives of the local people of the Croft Ward, Cowpen Quay and local area which is classed as very deprived. It is our aim to improve the conditions and wellbeing of our community, stimulate economic activity by providing lifelong learning, recreational activities and establish strong community structures and working in partnership with other local voluntary & statuary providers
Why the community needs us
The centre stands right in the heart of the community based in the Croft ward and Cowpen Quay area of Blyth Valley in Northumberland and our aim is to offer community support to the local residents. We offer a wide variety of activities for young people, arts, dance, youth clubs, martial arts, art for adults and children, salsacise dance, IT drop in, ladies beetle, job search plus many more activities. We work with disabled groups, ethnic groups, offenders, people of all ages.
Our impact on the community
In June 2011 we have just received The Queens Award for Voluntary Service which is the MBE for community groups, the top National Award for our sector. We encourage the community to become part of of centre to instil a sense of belonging to a group. We actively encourage the young people of this area to be part of the set up as they are our next generation to be running the association and the Buffalo Centre. By allowing this it gives them aspirations for their futures
