Christmas Appeal 2022

Abbey Physic Community Garden is a beautiful, inclusive, community resource for people with mental health issues and those who are socially isolated. This Christmas a combination of increased need and reduced funding has left the Garden in need of support.

APCG has existed for 25 years actively offering our members a community of which we are proud. One member recently said ‘...I can honestly say that coming to the garden saved my life’.

APCG welcomes everyone regardless of their background, or circumstances and this philosophy of inclusion enriches everyone through the sharing of skills, aptitudes and life experiences. Most of our 300+ members come from Faversham and the nearby towns and villages. Around half of our members have long standing mental health issues, some have learning difficulties, others physical health problems. Many are lonely or socially isolated, unemployed and facing financial hardship. Increasingly we are attracting members who have been recently bereaved. We provide companionship and activities such as horticulture, the community kitchen, the Men’s Shed and courses directly supporting wellbeing. Our charity has never been as necessary and we are calling on your help at this time of year, so we can continue to offer a warm, welcoming hub for our community.

Your help this Christmas will mean we can continue to support 85 vulnerable people a week, maintain and improve physical and emotional wellbeing and connection with others, improving confidence and skills and quality of life.
