ABC is a trusted local not for profit mental health and wellbeing organisation based in Billingham, Stockton and Tees. ABC works across the areas of Teesside to improve emotional wellbeing. Our goal is to help as many local children, young people and families as possible to achieve good levels of mental health and emotional wellbeing. In essence, we want all the children and young people who access ABC support, to feel that they matter, and that their voices and concerns are being listened to.
Here at ABC, we understand that life can get tough, and big feelings can impact on the way children and young people feel about themselves, and the world around them. ABC is here for children and families so they don’t have to go it alone. Whatever the pain or suffering is, ABC is here to support children and young people and families to heal from the inside out.
ABC's ability to form trusted relationships and provide the right therapy at the right time means that children receive the mental health support they need to heal at a time when they need it most. Without access to timely and trusted mental health support, research tells us that by the age of 15, 50% of children and young people will go on to experience poor mental throughout their adult life. As a result, ABC focuses on early intervention and prevention to ensure that children and young people have the tools and inner strength they need to reach their full potential in life.
ABC also offers free Essential Packs to local families who are facing financial hardship. To date ABC has provided over £100,000 worth of products to families in need. A typical Essentials Pack contains items such as toothpaste, washing powder, shampoo, shower gel, and sanitary products etc to the retail value of £40. Families that have received Essential Pack tell us that receiving a pack via a partner school referral has been a real life saver at a time when they need it most.
ABC delivers a wide range of therapies, all of which are provided by qualified and experienced therapists. Examples of the therapies ABC offers are listed below.
