A home and a base for community organisations and activities of all kinds.
Since 1952 Abermule Community Centre has provided a home for so many of our local community organisations and activities: a home for scouts, cubs, beavers, brownies and rainbows: a home for football teams and bowls teams, WI and Evergreens, playgroups and Young Farmers, plus many more. Not to mention a base for so many Abermule School activities. Our Centre has seen parties and pantos, discos and demonstrations, car boots and carnivals. BUT...we can't take its welcome facilities for granted.
Why the community needs usOur Centre has been the busiest Centre in Powys for many years, and has provided recreational, artistic and sporting opportunities for people of all ages in the Abermule and Llandyssil area. Up to 14 Community groups have been involved in using and managing the Centre, putting on events and meetings for their members. The Centre provides a warm and attractive venue for social events, films, conferences and training events as well as a football field, all weather sports area and bowling green.
Our impact on the communityWe want to be able to continue these benefits for future generations, providing accommodation at reasonable costs in a clean and well maintained building. Our fees are low, to enable community groups to both start up and survive. We want to develop the building and the sporting facilities further and have exciting plans for the future. However, rising costs and austerity measures have meant that we need to seek donations both for the upkeep of the Centre as well as development funding.
