Action West London helps disadvantaged people gain access to education, training, and employment.

Action West London (AWL) helps disadvantaged individuals change their lives through Education,Training and Employment. Having a job or being self-employed gives hope and pride to individuals. Barriers to employment may include education, language, culture, criminal record, lack of family support or limited awareness of what is possible. AWL's Mission is to provide as many opportunities as possible for disadvantaged individuals to realise their potential. We welcome your support. Thank you.

Why the community needs us

Action West London works with over 2000 people each year. We help young people in trouble, lone parents, older people, people with disabilities and mental health difficulties, ex-offenders, refugees and ethnic minorities. We help improve their self-confidence and motivation, English and maths, basic IT skills, and ability to get education, training and employment which will improve their and their childrens' lives. We also run a street Market and business start-up centre.

Our impact on the community

A few success stories: Leroy,aged 22, moved from prison to winning national Adult Learner of the Year Award; Lukas was presented with ESF London Achiever of the Year Award by Boris Johnson; Action Acton's street market project won national DTA award for 'Excellence in community cohesion and enterprise'; Mick, aged 55 got a Job after 10 years of depression and unemployment; Huda learnt to use a computer for the first time and found a job; Yasmine learnt English and integrated into the community.

Volunteers needed

Yes. We are always interested in Volunteers who may have any of the following skills/experience -- employer/recruitment experience; business start up support; social enterprise support; financial costing/forecasting;HR; job advice/support; training; social media and marketing; reception/admin; research and data collection; database and IT skills; fundraising/writing funding bids; business strategy/ experience at a senior level; mentoring young offenders; PR; writing skills.
