Could you gift £5 to support a local older person to have a regular chat?
A donation of £5 towards our Check in & Chat service will help to make sure that older Powys people who are lonely and isolated can have a regular call from one of our lovely volunteers.
Right now, more than 2.5 million older people across the UK have no one to turn to for help and support. No one to ask for advice. No one to help in a crisis. No one to talk to when they're feeling desperately lonely.
We want older people in Powys to know that our Powys community cares for them – your support will enable us to recruit, train and support more volunteers to call local older people once a week to help them through challenging times.
We have a waiting list of older people in Powys who need support due to their disabilities or care needs.
Telephone support once a week may seem like a small thing, but it really can change older people’s lives.
Your £5 donation means a friendly chat is available when it’s needed the most.
You will be making a fantastic positive difference to an older person’s quality and enjoyment of life - many clients tell us these calls are the highlight of their week.
Our free Check in & Chat line enables older people to make lasting friendships, or simply enjoy a chat when they want one.
In 2019, over 100,000 people across Wales told us they were lonely; many only spoke to 1 or 2 people a week and used their TV as their main source for company. This has always been a concern to us as no one should feel lonely.
