Age UK Plymouth has supported older people in Plymouth since 1942 and is a well-established, trusted, and hugely valued organisation in the area. We are affiliated with Age UK but we are an independent charity and are responsible for raising our own funds.
Our aim is to care for and work with those aged 50+, those living with dementia and carers in and around the City of Plymouth to improve their quality of life through the promotion of choice, opportunity and independence. We provide a variety of services to hundreds of people over the age of 50 every week, including those who may be vulnerable or socially isolated.
Why the community needs us
We provide a diverse range of services to the community including: free Information and Advice, Help at Home and Community Support, Handyman & Gardening, Day Care services, Dementia services, Carer support, social and creative day activities, brunch clubs and coffee mornings, free IT lessons and a Phone Friend service. We also have a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available including roles within our Day Centres, at our events or even helping with distributing leaflets and magazines.
Our impact on the community
Each year we provide information, advice and support to thousands of people in Plymouth - many receiving help to access benefit entitlements. Our day care service provides social interaction and engagement for over 50's and our Home at Home and Community Support services helps people remain independent in their homes for longer.
We have various fundraising activities you can sign up to , or if you don't fancy taking part in a particular event, you can still donate by sponsoring the team.
