Foodbank@Al-Ikhlas is an independent foodbank has been running since October 2019. When the foodbank was established we planned to serve on average 40 families a week. But with the current cost of living crisis we have had to increase this to on average 100 families per week. We manage this with donations collected from local stores, as well as working with Fareshare and Neighbourly making weekly collections of excess stock from local supermarkets.

We are currently struggling to meet the needs of our community due to a drop in donations and rising costs for all and are in need of greater support to keep the foodbank operating.

The beneficiaries of the foodbank are mainly our local community and, it is clear that many of our local community suffer financial hardship and have been adversely affected by the current crisis and as a result they rely on the foodbank for community support. Our work is heavily publicised on all our own social media accounts and website.

We are supporting our local and even wider community who are facing increased demand due to financial and isolation challenges. - We have in the past been supporting many families on low income who now due to the cost of living crisis have become even more disadvantaged with rising costs, loss of job, sickness and a huge strain on the benefit systems. So it is our aim and work to support communities adversely affected by the current climat . We are supporting our communities facing a direct impact  and we are in need of financial support to carry our work on, we would be devastated if we couldn't meet their ever growing needs of our community. We have worked hard to establish good working partnerships with many local organisations to keep the foodbank running and we would love this to continue.

Our work throughout has been supported and recognised by many in our community, most recent and an honour to receive, the foodbank was awarded a Community Champion recognition by the Senedd.
We have great support from all our neighbours and further a field from local AMs such as Jenny Rathbone and Jo Stevens who have always been on hand to offer advice and work closely with our community and supporting our work. Much of our work and interaction takes place online and our work can be seen here:
