Angel Shed is a space for children and young people of all abilities and backgrounds to access the transformative power of participation in the performing arts. We provide weekly sessions for 100+ members aged 5-19 across our six core membership groups. We actively reach out to those most likely to experience exclusion:
- 60% + of our members come from low income backgrounds
- 20% + of our members have special educational needs or are disabled
- 55% + of members are minority ethnic
Islington has the 7th highest rate of children living in poverty in the country (End Child Poverty Coalition
, 2019). 67% of Angel Shed members live in the five most deprived wards in the borough (State of Equalities in Islington
, 2019)."Angel Shed provides him the opportunity to interact with ‘neurotypical’ children of his own age group. It is very hard to find clubs that are inclusive, cheap and above all a place where we parents can rely on the staff with no worries of our children’s special needs behaviour."

We provide a safe place for our members to express themselves, develop confidence, and grow into curious, creative and courageous young people. We are inclusive in every aspect of our work:
“We have been very impressed by the programme’s thoughtful commitment to inclusivity. For children like our son, who can often find his feelings overwhelming, being able to play with, and be creative with, his emotions really helps him to develop his sense of agency.”
- anyone is welcome to join
- workshops are free to those who cannot afford them
- 1:1 support is provided to those who need it
- there are no auditions

We provide an inclusive, creative, and supportive space in which there are no barriers to participation, everyone’s needs are supported, and all voices are listened to and valued. We adapt to the needs of individual members, meaning everyone can participate in a way which works for them. "Just wanted to say a massive thank you to the whole team. The whole family has been uplifted by Angel Shed this year, your creativity and kindness. It's been such a purely positive experience in a difficult year. Our son is so motivated by Angel Shed. We are so glad we found you and so glad you exist. Keep going!"

We provide workshops in schools and community group across north London."We are a lively class of nine students with additional needs. The multisensory approach kept us fully engaged and the artist were very attuned and accommodating to the students' needs."Teacher, November 2021
Our volunteer programme engages 30 volunteers each week. This large team ensures the best possible support for all members.
"It has given me a sense of fulfilment and achievement. It has made me re-enter the world post-Covid and it’s great fun. I makes me feel like I am doing something worthwhile and contributing to society in a positive way."
